Workshop: Intercultural Communication
Spot Schiphol and Taalcentrum VU present: a fun, practical introduction to cultural differences and intercultural communication. Intercultural encounters in the work place often go smoothly. You can easily identify yourself with the other person regardless of differences in language or origins. However, you will be surprised by the miscommunications you can have with people from a different cultural background. Miscommunication can have many causes. In this workshop we’ll highlight things like context, uncertainty avoidance, individualism and collectivism.
After this workshop you are more aware of your own cultural patterns and how they can influence the communication with people from another background. This way you are better able to prevent possible miscommunications. This makes future intercultural encounters both fun and more effective.
